The Fair Child

“I am the child that was hiding
Afraid to leave the dark spot I had nestled into
Come out to play?
No thank you
It is safer in here
Please don’t leave me
I can’t leave, you see
My wings have been clipped
I promise I’ll try harder to see the world differently
Just stay with me a moment longer
I want to give this another chance
To let go of fear and see the new light
I do not yet trust the world to be a fair place
But when I lean into curiosity and take a peek
I feel freedom blooming from within
Have patience with me as I grow and learn to trust
And with new wings sprouting I will take your hand
I will walk this road with you.”
